Do you remember in the Field of Dreams movie, “If you build it, they will come?”
What if we changed that up a bit and instead thought, “If we vision it, we can get there.”
It’s so easy to go through life and “go with the flow.” Often the flow is challenging. It takes us places that are dismal and dark. Places that we may not necessarily “want” to go. Yet, we go and end up there because it is easy, it’s convenient.
Getting to the beautiful places (or state of being), the places of peace and wholeness, is a challenging opportunity!
We must put up resistance against the downward spirals. We must fight against the darkness and be willing to boldly move into unchartered territories. We must make decisions to go to places of wholeness and peace that we may have not yet seen.
I’m not a crafty person. I always wanted to be! I wanted to be the mom that made the “cute” things for the kids. Halloween costumes, birthday cakes, helped with school projects, etc. That was never reality. if I studied it enough and had a clear picture of what I wanted, I’d be able to create!
But – – – Pinterest is a DANGEROUS VIRTUAL place!
A few MONTHS ago I SAW this really cool project that I thought could bring some folks I love great joy! For months I researched it. Read countless articles how to make it. Got different pictures of it . . . really, for once I did my homework and felt ready and equipped to create!
HUGE mistake.
The project involved cutting, measuring, and fitting things together.
It was a nightmare.
After working on it for at least 3 hours I realized it looked like something someone in early elementary school would make. Not knocking early elementary aged crafts, but it certainly wasn’t something you’d expect to receive from a 50 year old woman as a “gift.” More like a punishment!
I realized it had no redemption so finally, I bagged the entire thing and started over.
I recognized my mistakes in creating and learned from them.
We each have a vision of what it is we want our lives to be like. We often “know” where it is we want to go and when it seems we aren’t getting there, it is often easy to bail and quit trying, quit moving. We err on convenience instead of doing the difficult inner work transformation and becoming whole takes.
You have a vision for your life. Remember, vision (the picture of the preferred future) isn’t easy. It takes hard work and commitment to get there.
But when we do, man – – – what a beautiful thing.
Claim and move toward your vision today!
1 Cor. 13:
12 We don’t yet see things clearly. We’re squinting in a fog, peering through a mist. But it won’t be long before the weather clears and the sun shines bright! We’ll see it all then, see it all as clearly as God sees us, knowing him directly just as he knows us!
13 But for right now, until that completeness, we have three things to do to lead us toward that consummation: Trust steadily in God, hope unswervingly, love extravagantly. And the best of the three is love.
