When is the last time you spent a significant amount of time in silence?
Total and complete silence.
No emails popping up, no text message notifications on your phone.
No music or tv in the background.
Silence.
A silence that allowed you to experience God’s presence.
So many times we feel as if we cannot experience God’s presence.
Yet, God’s presence is everywhere and has no ending.
God’s presence is always and forever.
In fact – we cannot NOT be in the presence of God and whether we acknowledge it or not, there is no other place to be.
The issue is that we are not present to the Presence.
We are almost always somewhere else . . . reliving the past or worrying about the future. Right here – right now never seems like enough! And we feel unhappy!
Maybe that is why we often feel like we struggle to see, hear, and experience God.
We go through life as if we are on “cruise control” and it takes some massive life-altering event to push us to reconnect to The Divine.
If we would become more intentional about connecting with God’s presence through intentional silence and openness (being fully present) we would be able to realize that God’s energy is always flowing through each of us. We can draw upon this energy and we will find that things feel differently. We will be able to live differently. No more cruise control.
Psalm 16:11 You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
