Once in the middle of the night, I got up to get a glass of water.

I closed the refrigerator and glanced up and screamed. There was a person in the other room, staring right back at me!

Because I was half asleep and it was dark other than the reflection from a small light in the kitchen, it took me a few minutes to realize it was me. My image was being reflected from the window in the other room. After a few minutes, my heartbeat returned to normal. I was able to get back to sleep knowing the only person there with me was me.

But that isn’t completely true.

If you live with someone or have in the past lived with someone, what’s the first thing you do when you walk in the door and you know they are there?

Odds are, one of the answers you might give is, “Hey, Honey!  I’m home!” or “Hey! I’m here!”

You want them to know that they aren’t alone.

A significant hurdle to one’s “prayer life” is realizing that one is never alone. There is “more” with us in every single moment than just ourselves.

God does not reside/live “out there” but instead, lives inside, “in here”.  Part of our spiritual journey is awakening to the presence of God in our lives. Recognizing that God lives within each of us, and the ONLY (really, yes! That’s true!) the ONLY thing we must do to connect to that power of God is to acknowledge that it is there.

An easy way of doing that? As silly as it may seem, it’s a different way of saying, “Honey, I’m home!” It’s simply saying, “God, I’m here!”

Or, an even simpler version, just say, “Here!”

Try that today . . . to make today a day of peace, a day of hope, a day of joy, stop what you are doing and thinking, and say, “Here!” Allow God’s peace, hope, and joy to cover you in the moment.

It’s real. It happens.  Try it – simply say, “Here!”

Grace and Peace,

Andrea
