Out of fear we focus most on the self.

How can we change that?

How can we choose self-giving love in place of self-centered fear?

Each week we are going to share these questions and our dialogue with you and hope that going deeper with the content from Sunday is helpful and inspirational for you. The videos are found on YouTube and are shared on Facebook.

The West Faith Community submits questions for the pastors to answer. This week Rev. Christi Dillon, West Church Pastoral Care Catalyst and Rev. Amy Coles, Assistant to Bishop, join together in answering these questions.

Question 1:
We all know we can’t pour from an empty glass. Can you define/talk to the difference between self-sacrificing and self-giving.
Question 2 @ minute 3:55:
Doesn’t love cast out all fear?
Question 3 @ minute 6:34:
Can you speak to the purpose the Holy Spirit has in equipping us in loving others? Do we have to ‘conjure up this love’ from our own strength? It seems to me that even when we are self-concerned or inwardly focused, the Holy Spirit fills us with love so that we turn to loving others. Maybe this Romans passage helps- “And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us. You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭5:5-6‬
Question 4 @ minute 7:58:
‭Relating to the Garden of Eden passage, after eating of the tree of life, the Lord God called to the man and said “Where are you?” Why does God ask that question?
Question 5 @ minute 11:20:
And do we continue to hide from God with our fears or concerns when he already knows this and knows to comfort us so we can love others?

We hope you will check it out!
